R52, et. al. Keyboard Vendor Question

#1 Post by w9cw » Wed Jun 27, 2007 5:39 pm

I have a general question on the quality of the keyboard supplied with the R52. According to the Hardware Maintenance Manual, three manufacturers supply keyboards for this series ThinkPad, as well as others:

NMB - FRU 39T0519

Chicony - FRU 39T0581

Alps - FRU 13N9957

Is one considered superior to another in terms of keyboard feel, and reliability?

Yes. The superiority is in this order:

1. NMB.
2. ALPS.
3. Chicony.

Moreover, you should read this comparison here.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.
