a22p ---- motherboard toast?

#1 Post by clickpoint » Thu Jun 28, 2007 8:09 pm

received a22p -- appears to be in pretty good condition
installed 265 pc100 memory
no mini pci card
plugged it in ; hit start
disk in use light flashes for quick second and then nothing

I have changed cmos battery ; tried different memory
tried w/ and w/o battery installed

next step is to try cpu... before I get involved with this,
can I try a P3 from T21 (800mhz) on this motherboard if reseating
the current cpu won't work

any other suggestions?

Did you first test it as it came from the seller?

Did he mention it was working?
X32/2.0GHZ/2GB/ENGENIUS EMP-8602+S 600mw mini pci/WD 250GB
X60/1.83GHZ/2GB/Atheros/7K100

Father picked up at a local sale ... as is........ no info on it

If its the MB , then I'm not sure if I want to invest more in it..

The machine itself looks in good condition -- no cracks/pressure marks visible on monitor ; body of machine looks good ....

If it's MB, then I'm not sure if I will work on it or just sell for parts.

check the model # of the A22p.
You might have one with the nice 1600x1200 LCD's.If so than that alone would be worth it to fix up.

Checked tawbook... all seem to be uxga

the one I have :
2629-U2U Pentium III 1GHz 128MB 15.0" UXGA 32GB CD-RW

I haven't seen a check MB for it though

So it has the nice LCD.
But i dont know if a normal Mobo from an A22 will work with the high rez lcd.Others might know if it can.
Maybe you can find a laptop with a bad lcd and put the uxga lcd on it.
You might need to find the A22P motherboard.May be hard to find.

I'll be on the lookout -- I'm assuming it's the MB that is wrong
since it won't do anything... no beeps even w/ memory removed

the mb's I've seen so far were 200+
don't want to invest a whole lot in the machine

What would be the street value, assuming I got it running?

Does anyone know if the a21p motherboard is the same as the 22p motherboard??? They seem to be similiar (tawbook).... will it fit into the 22p? Are there any difference?

Thanks!

They both, the A22p and the A21p , did come with the 16 meg ATI video,The cpu's should be interchangeable.
I dont see why it wont work. But i only dont one motherboard replacement and that was on a 390X system. Others may know more about the A2x system's.
I wonder if a reg A2x motherboard with the 8 meg ATI video fit and run the uxga lcd in the A22p?
If it will it might be a cheaper way to go. You will only have 8 megs video and i dont know about the video in and out.
But you should be able to find a cheap regular A2x board out there.
I have a nice A22p on the way to me,i cant wait to what the nice uxga screen is like.

20p, 21p, 22p are all 2629-xxx

All of the motherboards have a ATI® Rage™ Mobility 128 / AGP 2X / 16MB .....

can I use a 20p motherboard (08K3317 / 10L1413) in the 22p ....

See ebay item 270047022397

Much more reasonable price, but would I be able to plug the uxga connector on the MB and get 1600X1200 output?

Thanks

Well judging from that the A20p - 22p differ little I'd assume all three would work.
