A22M wont start

#1 Post by paragonconcept » Fri Jul 06, 2007 2:48 pm

So i picked up an old A22M i 1ghz box off craigslist for $90 because it needed some work. When i bought it it booted up with a bios password. I am very familiar with why thats a pain to deal with, but thats a topic for another thread. I stripped the machine down to the mainboard, so i could see the P4, and looked at some of the chips on the back of the board.

I began to reassemble before doing any work on the board just to make sure i could get the thing back together. Sadly, even though i managed to get it "back together" ..... thing thing wont boot at all. When i power it up - i see 1 green LED flicker for a second, and nothing happens. No fans, no beeps, it doesn't boot.

Any ideas on where to begin trouble shooting? This is my first venture into laptop hardware....

Also, what are the minimum amount of units i'd need to have installed to get it to boot properly. I know on desktop PC if you have a board, power, and a chip, you can usually get some decent audio errors from the board. How does this relate to thinkpads?

I see you are ok. but i run that MB and most others: bare MB on
bench with memory add if needed, ex video monitor and AC pw
or bat does post ck and enters BIOS.

luck
