Can the R40 Thinkpad keyboard buttons be taken out? I need to clean them, I need to know if you can take out the keyboard buttons and place them back in when I am done cleaning them.

Nononono. Don't even try. Old Thinkpads you could just pop the keys off, then pop them right back on. With the new key design it's almost impossible to pop them off and get them back on without mucking up the mount points. (Trust me... I made this mistake on my X40)

If you take the key off to clean under it, I almost guarantee the next thing you'll be doing is ordering a whole new keyboard to replace your broken one.
