This is new TP R61 with following specs:
Lenovo R61 Thinkpad
• Intel Core 2 Duo L2500 1.83Ghz
• 1 GB RAM (1024 MB) DDR2 789Mhz
• 14.0" WXGA Widescreen Display
• Resolution: (1280x800)
• 120 GB Ultra ATA Hard Drive
• CD-RW/DVD Combo
• Integrated Intel Graphics Media
• Accelerator 965 Chipset
• 5 lbs.
• Battery Life: up to 6.0 hrs.
• MS Office 2007, Windows XP Pro

The laptop also has a Secure chip, finger print reader, trac-point and touchpad.

Asking price is $1100. The model number is 7733-FS7 and I don't have the serial number - yet.

Please offer advice on asking price and any pro-con comments on the R61.

Seems like a good price since your getting Office and a three year warranty. You should note it uses the T7100 Core 2 Duo not the L2500.

Make sure you are getting the COA sticker for it. Otherwise, it's an illegal installation and you are required by law to uninstall it.

University of North Carolina is going to give you stolen software? Unless you have a specific need, Open Office is just as good and free.

Ofcourse not. But I don't see him mentioning anything about buying it from his school, UNC, if that's where he goes.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

If you google the machine type that's where it takes you and the OP is in NC.
