Bluetooth: No services found

#1 Post by Davidhs » Sat Jul 21, 2007 3:44 pm

I am unable to connect a Bluetooth GPS logger to my Z60m running XP Home SP2 and I should appreciate some help.

This device works fine with my Palm TX via Bluetooth.
My Z60m works fine via BT with my Nokia mobile phone.
So BT is working to at least some extent on both the GPS box and my Thinkpad.

Is my BT set up correctly on the Z60m?
Device Mgr shows:
Bluetooth devices
- Bluetooth bus enumerator, which shows Broadcom driver 5.1.0.3100 dated27 Feb 07, and
- Thinkpad Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate, showing driver Broadcom 5.1.0.2900 dated 19 Dec 06.

That duplication and version discrepancy strikes me as odd and hence my query.
I have just run update driver using the downloaded file 7jba08ww, which provides the 5.1.0.3100 update. I ran it against the second item listed above, the TP BT EDR device.

The symptoms are:
- the GPS device is visible in My BT places
- it can be paired
- but no services are detected either in the configure a new device wizard, nor when double clicking on the icon from within my BT places.

As I said, this little GPS device connects fine with my Palm.

Anyone have any suggestions, please?
Thanks,
David H-S
