Keyboard driver for Thinkpad A30

#1 Post by Someone else » Sun Aug 12, 2007 11:27 am

Good day all.

Recently I recently bought (second hand) a Thinkpad A30 for one of my relatives.
I found the IBM- and Lenovo-support sites and I could get almost everything working, network, audio, USB, video...
Only one thing won't work: this machine insists that it wants to use a US-international 104-keys keyboard, while in reality it has a 84 keys Thinkpad-keyboard with quite a different layout.
If I try Control panel-->Regional and Language options-->Languages I get the response: "A wrong keyboard driver is discovered. This dialogue window will now close." I cannot add any keyboard in Control Panel-->Keyboards.
I spent many hours trying to find the correct driver on Internet, without any result. I found out that there is supposed to be a special partition on the hard disk which I can reach with F11 during startup, this might do the trick. But alas, some owner before me either replaced or reformatted the hard disk, so that won't work.

Is there any wizard(ess) in this forum who can help me? Thank you for your attention.

Can anyone post an ISO for the hidden partition on the HD of the A30? Thx.
