R51. problems when machine comes back from sleep

#1 Post by jpdarcis » Tue Oct 26, 2004 9:56 pm

I have had my R51 for two weeks now and am experecing two unpleasant problems after my machine wakes up from sleep (using XP SP2).

1/ the display can get corrupted, but in such a manner that it becomes only apparent when browsing on the Internet. Last example, I wanted to enter my bank's site. The page loaded but when done, it was blank. I first thought the site had gone south but tried a different browser. Same result. But after a reboot, all worked well again. This having happened several times, I have been able to identify the problem as being cause by the sleep.

2/ after resuming after sleep, my machine stopped charging the battery. Although it recognized being connected to the main by the usual beep and icon, the power was barely enough to maintain the charge level but not increasing it. Again, rebooting cured the problem.

3/ The power monitor that is supposed to maintain the battery between set levels works more or less erratically. I am not positive the sleep and wake-up process is again involved but ...

Has anyone experienced this ? I have both SP1 and SP2 on my machine but have not have time to verify what happens with SP1, having barely finished to set the machine to my liking. Of course, the cause of this could be one of the softwares I load systematically but unless I am very lucky, I will never found out since the problems more or less elusive.

Thanks for any comments[/img]
