auto detect

normally when i go to the thinkpad site i can select auto detect my system and it will pull up all the current updates for my r50
as of late it does not recognize my system... i have to enter it manually.. i suppose this isnt a big deal. but i am confused why this is happeneing...any ideas anyone?

I have to confess that I think this auto detect is a truly stupid idea on the part of Lenovo. Why?

1. It is a pain in the [censored]
2. I am frequently using my desktop to get the files I want for my ThinkPad.

I wish they would dump it. ... JDH
