R51 1829 series: latch problems?

#1 Post by Oleg S. » Wed Oct 27, 2004 5:28 pm

Hello,
I've just bought an R51 1829 . It's a very nice piece of hardware.

When the unit is closed, the side of a screen that contains the latch can still be "moved" back and forth - about 0.5 cm. Like a gap between the screen and the keyboard. its screen is not closed firmly, but after the latch has "clicked", you can move the screen for 0.5. cm more closer to the keyboard, and then it returns back for 0.5 cm.

The question is, whether this behavious is by design or I have a defective unit. Thanks!
Regards,
Oleg.

my R51 1829 EHG does not show this gap.
If the lid is closed, it does not flex/move more than 0.5 mm.
I would check with IBM support.
