Poweron figerprint issues w/ Z61m

I've done a restore to factory delivery state and setup Administrator poweron fingerprint/passphrase as well as, BOIS and Win startup.
Everything was working fine for a couple of days and then it started failing the fingerprint read at poweron. The passphrase is still working but the fingerprints fail.

Anyone seen this? or have any other ideas?

In addion, Firefox (2.0.6) has gone in the trash and I'm using Opera now. It worked fine before the restore, now it just loads a single tab continuously. File downloads fail w/ firefox running.

For not apparent reason it's working normally now.

Is there a setting for the number of times the power on fingerprint reader will accept; 3 seems to be the default/setting now.
