I NEED HELP AND FAST!!

#1 Post by mstevmac » Mon Sep 10, 2007 12:40 pm

I am leaving on Friday for school and my computer decided to do some really weird stuff last ngiht. For some reason it has deleted everything on my hard drive it seems like on my R60 that i purchased 3 months ago. It has a totally new boot up after the XP loading screen as before (i.e. It doesnt make me do the fingerprint, I click start, and there are no programs or anything.) So i want to do a clean install of xp but when I start to do Rescue and Recover 3, a popup comes up and asks for a Rescue and Recovery Workspace Logon. I type my password that i know is correct for the Client Security passphrase and click OK. Then another popup comes up and says "The requested operation requires passphrase authentication, but you do not have a passphrase configured. Please configure a passphrase and retry the operation." What does this mean and how do I fix this...

THANKS

If easier my AIM screen name is mstevmac and I'll be here on a different computer than the laptop

I looked under my computer and I have the backup partition that has all the original files in tact...is there anyway I can use those and do a clean install? All my data is on an external HD that I plug in via USB. So data is NOT an issue here! do you have any suggestions?

Hello.

When turning ON your TP to boot, hit the Blue IBM key and this should take you to the Z:\ partition with a few choices.

I did mine once it it rejuvenated my TP to day-of-sale conditions.

Let us know. Handcuff.
Two Thinkpads G-41.
Thinkpad i Series 1200 and 3 1300.
Thinkpad 365 XD ( exchanged for a $100 rebate ).
All on WiFi and Ultra VNC. Have fun ! I do.
