R61 webcam quality

#1 Post by rbi » Mon Sep 17, 2007 12:34 am

I am using my new R61 89185MM and opened the Skype settings. I took a snapshot and found that the video quality of the built-in webcam is very very poor. Even my old Ultraport II webcam is way better than it. Is there any comment how this happened or just my settings is wrong. My R61 is running Windows Vista Business and Ultraport II webcam is used in my old T23 running Windows 2000 professional.

Hi. I'm using the same machine, an 8918 that was built to order. And I'm having the same problem in Skype: The camera looks terrible. The color is way off, and when I try to fix it using the driver control panel, nothing sticks. It reverts back to default. So far, I've tried the older XP drivers on the Lenovo site, and also the Sonix drivers (for Vista) at the Sonix Taiwanese site. None of this really improves the camera. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate them, as well. Also: As I'm sure you've seen from the Lenovo site, there's no native program in Vista that allows you to use the camera to record a short video. (Sort of like the software that comes with all the Logitech cameras.) If anyone has any suggestions about this, I'd appreciate that, too.
