I've been trying to update my R32 video driver for months...

#1 Post by Reidar » Thu Sep 20, 2007 1:59 am

After some blue screen issues with a couple of games, I went on the hunt for some new drivers (ATI Mobility Radeon 7000, according to ThinkWiki). I simply cannot find any that work well, and I've tried dozens upon dozens of sources. I don't get blue screens anymore, but I did get this weird problem of a stuttering mouse cursor. Anytime a page would load, be it in an internet browser or simply opening a folder in Explorer, the movement of my mouse would chop up, slowing down everything considerably. After some experimenting with various drivers, I finally remedied the problem to an extent. Everything runs smoothly until I either run a game or watch a movie, and then the problem occurs again, forcing me to restart to fix it.

So, what is the latest, most stable video driver that will work with my Thinkpad? I'm running XP, by the way. Many thanks for any suggestions.

Im currently running the one of the IBM website however i know you can get hacked ATI drivers to support mobile chips

Google 'omega drivers'

From memory you can get upto catalyst 6.5 for Ati 7000 chips.

Congratulations on being the only response to this issue amongst four different messageboards now.

I've downloaded Catalyst 6.5 before, and it gave me the same issue. I'll look up these omega drivers you mentioned.

I downloaded the Omega version of Catalyst 6.5, and it's just like the other ones. It took me about five minutes to log in to this site because of how choppy everything is.

Any other suggestions?
