Battery charge control program ?
I had a T42 where there was a thinkpad program which would control when the battery would start charging. What is that program for a R50P ?

Sounds like you want the Battery Maximizer.

I have the disadvantage that all of my Thinkpads with the Maximizer are in various stages if disassembly at the moment, but I seem to remember that you can set the points at which the battery starts to recharge using a "wizard". Sorry I'm not of much more use right now. Maybe someone else with a currently working system can provide more details.

Slight battery related hijack - good rebuilt ones?
I think that Battery MaxiMiser is what you are after.
Related to this, does anyone have recommendations for Uk based battery rebuilders/suppliers, or have DIY hints on rebuilding R50p batteries? I have 2 R50p's with original Extended batteries, which have now about half the original capacity (according to MaxiMiser) - I can live with the reduced life, but if there is a good source, I would consider replacing them.
many thanks

R50p, 1832-23U - very happy with lovely Flexview UXGA on these... and they run Kubuntu beautifully, with out of the box wireless, suspend, and X working.
