NIC not being detected under Windows XP with Thinkpad a20m

#1 Post by smes » Thu Sep 27, 2007 6:21 pm

for some reason my (intel) NIC on my Thinkpad A20m isn't being detected under Windows XP. I have downloaded the drivers from lenovo, but I can't seem to figure out which driver I use in the package. Has anyone else had this problem?

I am looking at some emails from a friend of mine in 2000. He bought an A20m back then. It came pre-loaded with Windows 98. He immediately converted it to Windows 2000 by formatting it and loading a valid Windows 2000 CD on it. Windows 2000 never did recognize the NIC. I remember well finally having to load the Windows 98 NIC driver (from the recovery CD) and then upgrading to the Windows 2000 driver. There was no way I could find to load the Windows 2000 driver directly. I expect a similar issue might occur with XP. ... JDH

I am not sure which drivers you downloaded, I looked up on lenovo's website and it stated drivers for Intel's Network card are "Included with operating system" for Windows XP.

I suggest you do a Windows update, perhaps it will catch something.
