new hard drive in ultrabay

#1 Post by markspraggins » Tue Oct 09, 2007 1:11 pm

My Z61 (complete with gremlins!) has a Hitachi Travelstar 7K100 100Gb as standard. I have bought an ultrabay hard drive adaptor and a Hitachi 7K200 160Gb but cannot see or format the drive. Lenovo seem to imply you have to buy one of their drives only. Can anyone help please? Normal sys of XP2 and 1Gb of memory

Welcome to the forum.

The hdd does not have to be from lenovo. With "brand new" hdds in a bay adapter I always do the following: insert bay drive, start TP, then in control panel - management - drive management format the drive.
T61p 6460-67G; 15,4 WSXGA+ W7P x64, no hairdryer.
T43p 2668-G2G, 14,1 SXGA+, XP Pro, internal hairdryer
T23 2647-9LG, 14,1 SXGA+, XP Pro, no hairdryer
