R50e screen blob

#1 Post by yakyak » Fri Oct 12, 2007 4:42 am

Hello,

New here, tried to search for the answer first but couldn’t find anything quite like this...

Not sure how this has happened, but my R50e screen has developed a small discolored blob at the bottom of the screen. It probably covers 12 pixels, an it looks as though one of the pixels has bled, covering the others. I have tried several dead pixel tests, but they don’t appear to have failed. The problem is highlighted when the background is either blue or white.

Is there any way to fix this or even just clean it up a bit? I don’t have a great understanding of TFT technology. I have presumed that the screen might need replacing, however I'm struggling to find one. Would any 15 inch IBM screen fit?

Thanks

1. Go to Parts Lookup page and do a search on that Service part number afterwards.

2. Download Hardware Maintenance Manual and look for compatible lcd fru #'s.
