R51 IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL shutting down message
R51 IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL shutting down message
I have an R51 that after 3 minutes of starting will shut down to a blue screen with the message "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" and tells to check that all hardware is correctly installed. The error report says:
BCCode : 1000000a BCP1 : 00000029 BCP2 : 00000002 BCP3 : 00000000
BCP4 : 804DA6DB OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 2_0 Product : 256_1
C:\DOCUME~1\ALEJAN~2\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERfd5c.dir00\Mini102507-03.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1\ALEJAN~2\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERfd5c.dir00\sysdata.xml
It did this sporadically, but now I have a hard time making it work, I have to reboot it 5 - 10 times before it works.
The only new thing I added was a Netgear external wirelss antenna that I need to connect to the wireless network with new encription. The card is working fine, but problems started after that.
I tried removing the Netgear card and the problem persists. Any idea of what to do?
Thanks a lot,

I am not sure what causes this. Maybe someone here does. When this error appeared on an in warranty ThinkPad that I had IBM replaced the motherboard. When I have seen this more recently on an out of warranty ThinkPad I just restart and it works ok.
So I am inconvienienced occasionally. Your problem appears to be more persistant.
What is the model and type of your R51?
Brad

I've gotten around this a couple of times by re-installing OS....however, I don't claim I know what the actual problem is.
I've had an R51 once upon a time, with a 1.5 PM processor that kept on giving me this message and bluescreened when I was trying to load the OS. I've sold it as a parts unit on eBay and have gotten a positive feedback for it, but to the best of my knowledge and belief (in the interest of full disclosure: I am NOT a computer tech), that has been a motherboard issue.
Good luck.

I'll give it a try...
Dear all:
Thanks a lot for the advice! I am not very well verse in computers, but I'll give it a try to your suggestions and let you know the outcome. I do not know the model of my R51, it's at home.
Thanks a lot,
Alejandro

problem solved??
Hi all:
Thanks a lot for all the advice. I tried several of the suggestions. I could not figure out how to run memtest, I download the program and apparently run, but I could not get it to do the test, so I gave up on that. A friend suggested that the location of the file indicated spyware, so I run Spyboot and catch and solved two problems (althought I did not find an obvious connection with this problem). The last time I had troubles with the machine, a week ago, I decided to let it run all the time (problems are mostly at starup) and since that I had no problem (it restarted today fine as well). So I don't know whether was the spyware or something else, but it seems fixed now.
I would like to thank you all for your input and hope that this may be usefull for somebody else as well.
Cheers,
Alejandro
