A31 SXGA LCD

#1 Post by proaudioguy » Fri Nov 02, 2007 4:52 pm

I've noticed my LCD has become less bright than it used to be. I'd like to know if it is possible to change the backlight with a new BRIGHTER backlight, or if there are diminishing returns to even attempting that. Keep in mind I've had this computer completely apart more than once, and just recently replaced all the plastic parts.

This is NOT the IPS screen. Is it possible/ advisable to replace the screen with the SXGA IPS screen?

I have a second A31 that has a brighter LCD, but has 1 dead (blue) pixel.

I second that. jamiphar has gotten very good reviews on his backlight replacement.

As long as you're aware of the fact that XGA A31 machines have 16Mb video and SXGA+ ones twice as much, you can proceed with the operation...you'll need new cable and inverter as well...

Personally, I'm not crazy about the idea of feeding an IPS LCD from only 16Mb of video memory, but it's your project and this is my opinion only...

I misunderstood your post and I apologize for that.

In the newly presented set of circumstances I'd say go for it.

Well had I known about IPS when I bought this new in 2002 I would have ordered it that way. My X60 Tablet and my friend's A31 P are awesome.
