I just received a R50e 1834-51C.
The RAM has been upgraded (768MB from 256MB) and it's in decent (probably 6-7/10) condition, aside from the fact that the LCD is smashed.
Well, time to look for a SXGA+ flexview now... anyone got any tips on where to get them? (Canadian dollar is high too, which makes it cheaper for me to buy one

)

Nice job. It looks like someone smashed it with a baseball bat.

Does anyone have a FRU to manufacturer part number table or something like that?
I found this at my local computer store, and I might go low-res if I can find XGA for cheap enough.

Ahh.... schoolwork on this thing is such a joy. I'd forgotten what typing on a real keyboard was like after having my T21 out of commission for a while (still don't have the tools or skills to fix.) In comparison, my Mac's keyboard feels really mushy.

Did you end up buying one of the LCD's at vancouverlaptops? If so, which one and how did you determine which one was needed? Reason I ask is because their prices seem good.

Yeah, I ended up buying a used panel there for $159. I could probably find SXGA+ panels for less on the internet, but I was excited to finally have a decent laptop for school use. I just brought in my smashed LCD to the actual store and they showed me which would fit.

What would be average wear and tear on batteries?
My battery is showing 36% capacity (17.3/47.5Wh) with 253 cycles. Is this normal, or should I try reconditioning it?

It depends on the age of the battery as far as if this is normal or not, but 253 cycles is a good number that indicates frequent use over time. It's always worth trying to recondition the battery. If it doesn't produce positive results it's time for a new battery.
