LCD Brighter and Cleaner???

#1 Post by proaudioguy » Thu Nov 08, 2007 11:07 pm

In the final part of my A31 Facelift, I changed the LCD cover and bezel tonight. The new one has the WIFI antennas, so I'm finally going to use an internal WIFI card (any suggestions?). I ordered 2 new backlight bulbs, which haven't come in yet. Since this LCD had 1 dead pixel, I figured I'd replace the bulb in my other A31 LCD (still plagued with GPU issues), then put that screen in this machine. After reassembly of the new plastics, the dead pixel is gone, the white is now much brighter, and that pinkish hue is GONE.

What gives? I verified with Dead Pixel Buddy. The LCD is not without blemishes. There are 2 pressure marks I never saw before (possibly caused by me tonight). The bottom corners are a tiny bit darker, but it's so slight I can only notice it with Dead Pixel Buddy. I'm not sure this screen ever looked this good.

Any ideas?

OK, the 1 dead pixel is back. It's only there when I view the BLACK screen. The pixel is blue. When viewing any other color, it's not there. It's strange how it was gone for a while though.

What you have there is a stuck pixel - they stand a much greater chance of being fixed than purely dead pixels using tools like JScreenFix. The fact that it went then came again makes it more likely again, that it is fixable.

Thank you so much! I feel so ignorant, but at least there is something I can do about it. Thanks for showing me the light!

Regarding an internal wifi adapter, I use a generic Intel 2200 b/g adapter in my A31, the no-1802 hack was NOT required. It works great and I use generic Intel drivers.

I've used 2 different generic Atheros chipped adapters (a 5001X+, and a 5002) in my T30 and my wife's A31 and neither one needed the hack. The bonus is that I get the SuperG 108 speed with my D-Link DI-624 AP.
