The model you've purchased is one of the high-end G41 machines, and I don't foresee any disappointment coming your way, as long as it's in good shape.

You will be using this as a desktop replacement, right? Because it's really not meant to be a laptop in the conventional sense...

I was looking to buy one of these for a while, then gave up for the lack of reasonable offers...

Would it be too much if I asked you to share the name of the seller and price paid? If so, I understand.

Best of luck with your new ThinkPad.

My G41 is an excellent machine, no complaints whatsoever. Good sized keyboard, the display is excellent and pwerfull enough for whatever I want to use it for.

If I have to complain about something on the G series it would have to be the speaker, its not configured for entertainment. To get by the cheap/ solo speaker I purchased a portable speaker set, problem solved.

Thinkpad Addict, hello.
You will not be sorry with this G41. It is a bit heavy but intended as a desktop replacement, not a traveling companion. I have had mine for close to three years now and really enjoy it. I only wished that the DVD was also a "buner", only a ROM as it is. I have 512 megs of RAM and it is quite sufficient, I am never into it fully, I run at 50% of it. A good move it was to add a second 256 megger, like you, I got it off eBay, the RAM that is.

Have a great day. JP.

Hello, ajkula66.

I have two G41, great machine. On the latest models, there is no power setup icon on the task bar. One machine has a 3+ CPU and runs around the other that has a 2.66 CPU.

Do you know where to look for the power settings ? It used to be that I could control the CPU fan from the task bar and in turn this would set the CPU at higher speed. I looked into the XP provided settings but this did not offer any setting to vary. I think that it was an IBM provided dooeky. I would think that the 2.66 CPU should be able to just about keep up to the 3+. They have exactly the same RAM and the same softwares, I use both exactly the same way and alternate from one to the other. Strange.

Can this be set in the Access IBM, close to the BIOS ? I have not looked there yet.

A great day to you. JP.
