R or T?

#1 Post by asiafish » Mon Nov 26, 2007 11:51 am

I'm buying a new system for an attorney and am undecided between R61 and T61, both in 14" widescreen with integrated graphics. So far, the only differences between them that I can find are a few milimeters of bulk, a few ounces of weight and about $100 of cash. Are the new R series as reliable and sturdy as the T series? If so, I will buy it.

The R series has the same parts inside as the T series. The case is a little thicker and it is a bit heavier but just as tough. I have an R61 and a T60 They are both fine.

Ordered the R61 from Newegg, $850 for a moderately equipped 14" widescreen, integrated graphics, C2D 1.8GHz, Vista business and most of the goodies.

Best is that it can share docking with my T60p.

Wow, ordered the R61 yesterday and got it today, without paying for faster shipping.

As for the machine, the wide 14" R is far nicer than I expected it to be. Perhaps 0.2 inches thicker than my 14" T60p (standard screen), is about as fast, though since the R61 came running 64Bit Vista and has less software installed and my T60p is 32 bit and has been fully loaded I cannot really say.

Anyway, no regrets buying R instead of T.
