Thinking of a Thinkpad R40e P4 2.2GHz

#1 Post by fleamourian » Mon Dec 17, 2007 5:38 pm

Hmmm decisions, decisions, I am in the low plain of decision.

I am thinking of purchasing a Thinkpad for a minimal investment that I can work on myself if needs be. I know nothing of Thinkpad models past the T series. Any advice? Saw the above on eBay with mirrored finish on lid selling for £250 buy it now which is around my budget. If anyone is thinking of selling in the new year let me know.

Any advice on models etc?...

I should add I am sold on 14.1" screens due to their compactness .

ThinkPad T21 - 1GHz PIII, T22 fan, 7200rpm 100GB HDD, 512MB KINGMAX RAM ~ Silicon Heaven [RIP]

Just make sure it's not a Celeron processor, since most of R40e machines that I've seen had these...also, R40e has 1.1USB ports, where R40 has 2.0...

Apart from that, these are fine and durable machines. Lately, I've been playing with R40 with 15" SXGA screen and 2.4 P4M processor that I'm updating for a friend, and it's a great laptop in every way imagineable, along with numerous other R40s that I've owned which were the same way.

Good luck.
