A20m 12" screen upgrade

#1 Post by DoctorLondom » Wed Dec 19, 2007 5:30 pm

I'm going to be getting an A20m (freebie) sometime this or next week, and I know it has the SVGA 12" display (with the huge ugly border).

I was wondering if the entire LCD assembly from a 14.1" or 15" XGA model will be swappable. My main concern is that the 14.1" or 15" models may have a larger overall size and I'd need to have the larger base to even accommodate it.

The HMM doesn't really clearly explain this, but it appears the 14.1" and 15" LCD assemblies may be the same overall size.

Thanks.

I don't have a machine to measure it against. but 14" and 15" machines are NOT the same size. LCD latches are in different spots, and many parts are indeed physically different between the two.

You might be able to get away with 14" LCD on your machine, but I can't say that I've tried it myself.

Good luck.

A20m 12" Screen Upgrade

#3 Post by Calveley » Wed Dec 19, 2007 11:30 pm

Hi Doctor Londom,

I have both a A20m with 12' screen and a A21m with a 14' Screen.
They appear identical physically apart from the screen size.
I have not tried actually taking them apart to check ( and I am not offering to) but I have carefully measured and I can see no differences
I hope that this helps.

Looks like the 14.1" and 12" models differ only by the LCD size and screen bezel size.

Thanks guys!

The 12" and 14.1" displays are interchangeable. I've swapped them many times.

Merry Christmas.. Tad
