layman stress test on R50P

#1 Post by chazz » Mon Dec 24, 2007 9:55 pm

I just maxed out my R50P with a 2.1 GHZ Dothan, stock 60G/7200 HD and 2 gig of ram...iam trying to do some stress test by downloading, running antivirus softwares and watching dvd's..all at the same time..the CPU is running at 100% and Iam using speedfan to gage the temp...its around 51 C and HD at 37 ....the 51 C is the highest I seen so far...Is this consider too high?...it feels (comfortably) warm and the air blowing out is warm ...is this ok? :( iam alittle concern about the temp...

can anyone recommend some benchmark tests i can do ..so i can try out the
cpu's full potential ..

I may go into the bio and adjust the cpus voltage? these 3 levels of power for the cpu, max, med, low will this work

thanks for any reply

51c is very low. You are not doing a very hard stress test. I usually use the Prime95 Torture Test. You also need to figure out how to stress the video card as well, as that often is even hotter than the cpu. In the case of the cpu and gpu, I would not worry much about their safety unless they hit 80c. Cooler is always better though.

The BIOS does not have voltage settings, those are speed settings. Most people adjust the voltage with a program like NHC, this will make the biggest difference in cpu temp once you've taken the time to find settings that don't crash. My cpu does not go over 47 once the voltage was adjusted, vs 60-something before (but it is also much slower and thus cooler than yours).
