Restore Issue (while rebuilding HDD)

#1 Post by rknotes » Sat Jan 05, 2008 3:46 am

Background:
Lenovo Z60t / XP Prof
Original HDD - 40 gb
Bought New HDD - 100 gb
Created Rescue & Restore Disks (6) + Full Backup to USB Drive
Restored successfully to New HDD
All went fine for a while.

After a while, my new HDD had lot of issues (virus etc) and was at a point I just want to FORMAT and start fresh restore!

Issue:
Created a new full backup to USB.
When I try to restore to new HDD from this backup,
it just crashes and shutting down the laptop!

[ Restore your system / Restore entire HD / USB / Backup /
Do not want to save file / Do not preserve Windows ID/PSWD ]

I've tried different options with no luck at all!! -- I'm struck as I don't understand where the issue is!!!

Is this the correct way to do this?
Please advise!!!

Thanks in advance

Your new backup still contains the fault issues (virus etc.).
Do the restore again from your first backup, and then be more careful where you surf.
Did you not have an Antivirus program installed?
e.g. free AVG from http://free.grisoft.com

Unfortunately. my first backup is gone! The new backup I made is from the old/good HDD!

The virus thing I mentioned is just a guess.. I had issues like the system would shutdown suddenly, etc. Yes, I had Anti-viris, Anti-Spyware, Ad-ware etc etc.
