ATI Catalyst and desktop-resizing bug

#1 Post by colin » Mon Jan 07, 2008 4:34 pm

I posted before about how my R52 (1846-AQG) had suddenly started resizing the desktop to 800x600 when the lid was closed and I went through all of the fixes, BIOS updates and whatnot, to no avail.

I then decided to uninstall ATI Catalyst and, lo and behold, the problem was fixed! Except it wasn't really.

By uninstalling that, the video drivers were completely screwed so I had to reinstall it, thus re-instituting the desktop-resizing issue. [censored].

I'm now going to try to uninstall ATI Catalyst and just install the driver alone, and I'm confident that will resolve my issue. I just wanted to point this out to anyone who may have the same insanely irritating problem on their Thinkpad as I've had.

I'll post again on the success (or lack thereof) of my experiment.

Colin
