A22m system board compatibility

#1 Post by nearchos » Tue Nov 23, 2004 6:45 am

I'm trying to fix my A22m by replacing the system board. Nevertheless, I am wondering if the EXACT same system board is required. For example could I replase my 2628SSU's system board

Code: Select all

with one from a 2628T2U [code 26P8102]? Is anyone aware of the differences, or maybe of a compatibility matrix?

Any input appreciated!

I replaced my A22m motherboard with a different system board and it worked. I'm not aware of any compatability matrix, did you check the ibm site? I believe you just have to make sure that the video chipset was the same. i.e. you have to make sure the system board supports your LCD. My A22m has a 15" LCD and had an 8 meg video onboard, and I couldn't find the replacement board anywhere, but found one on ebay also from a 15" model with 8megs, so I took a wild guess that it should be compatible, installed it and it worked sweetly. I had a 2628-PSU originally, but not sure what the equivalent of what I have now is. I can did it up if you want. I think it's a board from a 2628-RXX, where I'm unsure of the XX but can look it up.

Thanks. According to this page: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... PEV9X.html
the Pxx and Sxx use the same system board [26P8106] so I am still not sure. Nevertheless, I plan to risk it too!
