I only very recently have begun using the wireless capabilities of my thinkpad and 'till now only used the standard windows configuration tool.
After having trouble connecting with some encrypted networks I decided to install the newest NIC driver and the newest version of Access Connections. The AC traysymbol takes about three minutes (after booting) before it shows up in the tray and when I start the software it just shows me the splashscreen for about 5 minutes before the actual user interface apears.
Can anybody give me a hint on what to do?
System:
Z61m 9450-HAG
Windows XP SP2 with a bunch of updates
Intel PRO Wireless 3945ABG Driver Version: 11.5.0.36
AC 4.42

€dit: I guess this is not a specific Z series matter, I originaly wanted to post in the general hardware/software section but some how messed up - so if a mod reads this, feel free to move the thread over there.

Access Connections generally does not slow down booting much (for me, or for clients where I have it installed).
Two things (probably amongst others):
1. Make sure you don't have too many profiles, or at least configure Location Switching to use only one or two.
2. Make sure you are able to connect properly to the main profile you are using. If Access Connections has trouble connecting with a profile, it will slow down.

I haven't created any profiles yet - no wifi at home, only at school. It's not the system booting process that is slowed down so much, it's the start of AC. I remember fiddling around with AC back on the "of the shelf" lenovo windows installation (I did a cleansweep and reinstallation of xp in the meantime), but I can't remember waiting 5 minutes for the AC splashscreen to disapear before I could start using the software.
