Hello,
There are flickering horizontal lines about 30mm wide in blue color near the middle of the upper portion of display.
The photo at the following link shows the display:

Would anyone advise me how the flickering display could be fixed?

Most likely it is the LCD panel. They are very fragile and can be damaged quite easily. I think your best bet would be to find a replacement on eBay. It has been my experience that the 14" LCDs on the A, T, and R series are compatible with one another. You should be able to pick up a refurbished one such as the Samsung LTN141X8-L00 for around $100.
A word of warning though, you can find compatible panels for as low as $35, but these most likely will have signicant surface wear. It is better to pay a little more.
