standby/sleep issue z60t with xp pro
Ok so...
I close the lid or let it time itself out and go to sleep, and when I open the lid or push Fn, sometimes it wakes up to where I left it... and sometimes it boots fresh.. and shows me a dialog box that says "windows suffered a critical error"
I've searched around and haven't see anything dealing with this... perhaps it's not exactly a problem.. maybe more just how these things work. But having two outcomes from the same function seems like a problem to me.
Any advice would be most appreciated.
Thanks!

Could be a problem with one of your device drivers. Have you updated with System Update?

nope...
Updated .. and no dice... it still comes out of standby and reboots, OR comes out of standby and goes back to an active desktop with no rhyme or reason. I thought maybe if I left enough programs open on my desktop it would come back.. but no... it just works when it feels like it.
Is there anything about the standby function that you guys think I should know? I might be overlooking something stupid. I'm willing to admit that

I have been receiving the blue screen of death serious error warnings since attempting to download and install Real Player 11 in place of Real Player 10. The new Real software refused to install or work correctly and Real support did little to help me with the problem and so I carefully removed all Real files and folders from my Z61p including all Real register entries. After I did this about 14 days ago, all of the blue screens vanished, apart from one persistent blue screen that appears most mornings when I try to come out of suspend mode and open up my Z61p again. It is my custom to leave the computer in suspend mode overnight so that it can awake and receive any fax messages through my WinFax 10 software. Each morning, after I receive the blue screen warning, I carefully check all systems using my updated PC Doctor software. All systems are shown as "passed". I regularly carry out CHKDSK and CHKDSK/F hard drive checks and they look ok. All of my software is updated from Lenovo.
Can somebody help me too?

Look the under event viewer's error log, it should tell you the cause of this error:uber_beetle wrote:snip....and shows me a dialog box that says "windows suffered a critical error".....snip
Right click on My computer > Manage > System Tools > Event Viewer.
You can disable the error messaging service though:

The cause of BSOD could be anything from improper device drivers to bad system component, I suggest next time you note down the BSOD error number or as suggested previously look under event viewer.Vineyards wrote:snip....Can somebody help me too?
To make the BSOD readable, do this:
Right Click My Computer > Properties > Advanced System settings> Under start up recovery-settings> Then uncheck automaically restart and press OK.
Next time you'll be able to read the bluescreen.
Also run PC-Doctor diagnostic test and mem86+ memory test on your memory.
