A21m 0175 CRC1 error
Hi everybody.
I've just bought a second-hand IBM a21m. With the known 0175 error.
I've identified the 24RF08 EEPROM in the MOBO, I've got the tools and the experience for desoldering, read and program the chip, but i need the dump of an errorless eeprom for this model.
I've got the dump from an A21E, but im not sure if the hex file is compatible with my machine.
Do you know where can I get a dump for my exact model?
There is any model compatible with mine's?
Thanks a lot for your information.

First of all, welcome to the forum!
I seriously doubt that the file from A21e would be compatible with A21m, these are two entirely different machines and motherboards.
Having said that, I don't have the answer you're looking for at hand, but Google is your friend...
Good luck.

I've replaced the EEPROM in a A21m before and sometime I could fix the error and sometimes no. This was quite a few years ago.

I have the same problem.
I have bought an A21m with a "0175 CRC1 error".
I have all the tools to fix it, but i don't have a dump from a good working A21m
So i still can't reflash the chip.
There are websites which offer you to send the dump of your EEPROM, and they fix the CRC error, and then they send the good dump back to you, but that costs $30
A little bit expensive i think

Yeehaa!
Dumped my EEPROM to a .bin file.
Now i only have to fix it.
I have contact with someone who can fix it, but maybe someone here knows how i can fix the CRC error (checksum) ?
Maybe a offset in the .bin file is wrong or something?

I have two good A22m motherboards. What's involved in getting the "dump?" If its not too complicated I can give it a try.frankiepankie wrote:I have the same problem.

Flashed a dump from a A21e on my A21m.
Only had to change the serial numbers with the Hardware Maintenance Diskette.
But now i have problems with cooling, my A21m gets too hot
