Odd R61i video blip.

#1 Post by gamfa » Tue Feb 05, 2008 7:28 pm

On this machine something odd is going on during boot that I can't solve. The boot seems to go fine till the desktop appears and starts to init.. The background and desktop icons appear and the taskbar is there. An icon or two will show up in the taskbar and them the screen will go black for a second or so and then reappear. It then init's all over again to completion.

Has anyone seen this before. Anyone have any idea what is causing it?

Which operating system?

Anyways a possible solution:

LCD screen flashing while loadup.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

Factory installed XP. Thanks for the link. I'll look through those posts after another cup of coffee or two.

You don't have to....i had the same problem and after many BIOS updates, and installing new graphic driver i still had that problem....solution: using msconfig (or anything similar) disable startup of igfxtray.exe and igfxpers.exe......and that's it.....no more startup flicker (FINALLY)....and most important it doesn't affect your video performance (playback or gaming).....

Thanks beGi....worked like a charm.

You folks have a wonderful support community here. As good or better than any tier 3 I've talked to.

Thanks again....
