Anything to watch out for on A31p's?

#1 Post by djtopcat » Wed Feb 06, 2008 6:53 pm

I know about t41s but zero about the A31
I just saw one for sale for $350 only has 512 RAM
is that a good price?
and is there any quirks I should know about these things?

First of all, is it A31 or A31p?

If it's A31p, beware of the "garbled screen issue" pointing to bad GPU...and be forewarned that this may not be noticeable on every boot. Also, make sure that the backlight is OK, with no red tint on startup.

If it's an A31, it would have to be the most loaded one ever (2.0 processor, wi-fi, BT, SXGA+ IPS LCD) to warrant the $350 price.

Feel free to ask more questions.

Good luck.

I'd ask for the model number first, verify it on Lenovo's website, and take it from there...once you verify that it's not a scam, go over there, take a good look and haggle if you will...

The A31p uses a Radeon 7800, not 7500. It also has a Firewire port near the PCMCIA slots on the right side. There are two video port in the back, video in and video out.

Regular A31 has a black cover over the hole where the video in port would go.

Like AJ said, check out the type and model numbers.
