A30 doesn't recongnize ANYthing

#1 Post by Dan73-05 » Fri Feb 08, 2008 6:33 pm

Hey guys, I got an A30 in a trade last fall, it had some issues where if you would twist it or move it too much, it would freeze up, solid.

More recently, it has stopped working. Pressing the power button doesn't do anything. When I plug it in the battery indicator wont even turn on.

Any ideas on fixing it? Or would it just be better to open it up to you folks for parts?

Thanks for the help.
Dan

First of all, welcome to the forum!

Try removing mini-PCI card and media drive, along with the battery, and see if it boots.

If it doesn't you're likely looking at a motherboard repair/replacement.

Given the current prices of A30 machines, you'll have to pretty much make a choice of repairing it for a sum that is likely it worth altogether, or selling it as a parts machine for an equivalent of a carton of cigarettes...

Good luck and let us know.

Hi if you want to trade it for a pack of smokes or at least some cash let me know Mine's fan wont start, but seems to churn on..

Seriously check that your power supply is working, plug it in and put the tester across the end if its not pushing out at least 17 volts it wont fire up or recharge the battery

A30's are finnicky when they reach the age of majority

I don't think thats it. It was fully charged, it went on a 15 minute car ride, and then it wouldn't turn on.

Yea if you need a fan, I think this one worked, I'm not 100% sure. I could send ya just the fan if you like, save some on shipping.
