A22P 2629-YVU..Serendipity??
A22P 2629-YVU..Serendipity??
I was looking to upgrade the plastic base on my A20 when I came across an E Bay item described as"Thinkpad".
Looking at the item it said it was an A22 that does not power up, and from the photo the base seemed to be what I was looking for.
A very reasonable bid won the item, and when it arrived, it was in fact an A22P 2629-YVU.
Sure enough, it did not power up at all, and upon dis-assembly I noticed a greenish residue on several places on the MB (??Spill??)
Before I switch tracks and try to repair the A22P rather than the A20M obviously I want to test the LCD Panel.
Can I test this panel on my A20M(14 In.)..is it possble to clean the residue and sucessfully resurrect the A22P MB.
Any suggestions appreciated.

You can test the LCD by powering it woth your A20m, but you'll have to use cable and inverter from A22p.
Look up (I can't find it now) RobbyRobot's thread on ressurecting an A20p...you'll find some good info there,
Good luck.

Man, I envy you! I have always wanted to play with a UXGA A22p but don't want to spend over $100.ms5133 wrote:I now have a functioning 15in. UXGA A22P.

Thats awesome! I've been itching to see what this fuss about UXGA is all about. My A22p arrived yesterday and I am looking forward to opening it up today. It was advertised as having random shut down problems. I figure I'll check out the cooling and if that doesn't work, look for a new mainboard.

Your next stop...the twighlight zone....
I don't want to scare you, but years ago I bought an A22p thinking I was buying an A22m and ever since that day I would wake up with serious withdrawal symptoms if I didn't have an UXGA LCD to look at immediately...I hope this doesn't turn into a new addiction.
