R40 Screen Won't Work At All

#1 Post by Raine » Mon Feb 11, 2008 10:18 pm

Hi,

I have 2 R40's and wanted to give one of them to my Mom, but the one I was going to use after placing my HD in it seems to have a dead screen. I hadn't used it for awhile and the last time I did the screen was working fine....

When I turn it on there are no beeps at all, the battery light is green, and the light to the left of it is too....

Anyone have any idea about what could be wrong with the screen?

Thanks

How about booting it without the HDD and seeing what happens...

Also, try hooking it up to an external monitor and see if it works...

Good luck and keep us informed.

I tried turning it on without the HDD and it did the same thing.....

I don't have an external monitor to hook it up to, unless I could try hooking it up to my other R40....

Have you checked the lid switch to see if it's stuck? Give it a gentle push once or twice.

- unplug system and remove battery

- press the power button ten times repeatedly

- then hold down the power button for 25 seconds in order to completely discharge the capacitors, etc.

Try plugging in the AC power and attempt to boot. If nothing happens, then repeat the process but run off of the battery instead (no AC adapter).

That didn't work....

After trying what you suggested I can't get the laptop to turn off without removing the AC Adapter and the Battery.....

When I get it to turn off if, I plug the adapter back in the laptop turns itself on ......:|
