R40 keep restart after a while

#1 Post by aki » Mon Nov 29, 2004 1:14 pm

hey.
has anyone here same problem ? the problem came when i try to download mandrake isos files/cds from www.mandrake.com.

i think it is when the wireless download faster and faster and then the laptop shutdown and restart automatically up again.
the problem (must be it) that the power supply unit doesn't give the wireless card, hdd and cpu enough power so they keep restart when the laptop works at max level

any1 ?

Actually I think this may be heat related. I have an R40 with an internal mini-pci Cisco wireless card and when I download multiple large (> 500 meg images like your ISO's) and the house is warm or the laptop is on my lap and the exhaust fan is constricted the machine will stop working from a wireless perspective. The radio is on according to the light, the cpu fan is blasting - the unit doesn't reboot, but in order for me to get wireless working again, I have to reboot. I think you might be seeing a similiar thing - and I believe my issues were heat related.

Through the course of normal web surfing I've never encountered this problem, just 1 or 2 times with the above specific "environmental" and use attributes.
