NHC - custom ULV Pentium M (banias, on R40)

#1 Post by kajencik » Tue Feb 19, 2008 12:23 pm

I've recently disoveder this great tool (Notebook hardware control) This is a first software which can properly display cpu temperature for my R40, and much more... Really good work out there :) I've setup my own clock change modes and even the voltage levels, and here comes my question:

I changed the voltage for all CPU clock rates to match the ULV pentium M and it works and is stable! does this meand that when I'll limit maximum CPU frequency to the ULV banias speeds, I have the ULV pentium M? Are there any other changes than the voltage with the LV and ULV CPU's compared to the normal ones?

X61t - 4GB RAM, 120GB SSD, 1 hour battery, SXGA+ with bubbles
T530 - i7-3630QM, 16GB RAM, 240+480GB SSDs, 3G, Full HD LCD, 9 cell battery

Mostly. Even at the same voltage, each chip randomly consumes a slightly different amount of energy. Intel would test the chips, and sometimes a chip would not meet power requirements even at the low voltage. This is probably pretty rare, so your chip is most likely effectively a ULV.

The voltage can go below ULV levels, you know, but it takes a bit more testing. You can also lower the voltages of the higher speeds.
