Thinkpad temperature monitoring tool *Tiny pic*

#1 Post by r2d2 » Mon Feb 25, 2008 2:15 am

I want to monitor my temps like CPU temperature, HDD, etc. Is there a thinkpad tool available for an R31 or R40 (or for any model that would work on an R31)? I tried SpeedFan but I am not quite happy with it.
Best Regards,
Rosh

This is not a strictly Thinkpad tool, but MobileMeter might do the job:

http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValle ... mm0310.zip

or

http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Sys ... Meter.shtm

This is the "home page" for the program: http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValley-Oakland/8259/

and the English README file: http://tamaru.homeip.net/~shingo/mobile ... eadme1.htm

There is a very lengthy thread here:

That may help you decide. The author's latest version seems to work well on my ThinkPads.

I'm using Notebook Hardware Control (NHC): http://www.pbus-167.com/ on both of my R40 and R40e, (this thread remains me, that I should try the tpfancontrol too :) ) and it works good, it shows the CPU and HDD temperature, others are not present, but not quite important for me, It will also allow you to setup custom speedstep behavior (frequency, voltage... This aplies especially if you have a pentium M CPU).

The tpfancontrol is also actually controlling the laptop's fan speed, which may lead to some damage if unproperly set... on the other hand, the NHC doesn't change anything, so for me it's for monitoring better...

I use Everest Ultimate from Lavalys to monitor my desktop and loaded it on my R61e as well. It works great and gives you temperatures and voltages on just about anything you could ever want, A bit pricey but you can use it on all your rigs. Here is a screenshot of my OSD (On Screen Display) which is completely customizable in color, font size and items displayed.
