Thinkpad - Lenovo - R60e

Hi,

I needed to format and install a new operating system, but this operating is not from Recovery CD. (Windows XP Pro)

I downloaded the drivers and everything is working fine, except wireless adapter, because when I press Fn+F5, a message box appears informing me that the wireless adapter was not found. As I said, I downloaded and installed all drivers, including wireless drivers.

One more information, the internal wireless in the BIOS is enable, and BIOS is already updated.

Does anyone know how to solve it? Is there any new driver or configuration that I need to do, in order to be available the wireless connection?

Welcome to the forum!

Go to Lenovo's website, choose "supports & downloads", type in your model number from the bottom of the machine (XXXX-XXX) and choose the applicable wireless driver to download. Be advised that you'll have to unpack it from the download location (C/...) to make it work.

Thanks, but as I said, I downloaded all drivers available, and none of them worked.

The laptop is working as original, except about wireless connection.

I dont know if there is any problem with the driver, but I would like to test with an old driver version, however I dont know where I can find it.

If anyone has any other idea, solution, comment or suggestion, I would appreciate in receiving it.

OK, I thought that only the model was enough, anyway, see below the 7 chars.

Using only ThinkPad R60e information in the search at Lenovo website, remember, I downloaded and installed all drivers.

According to Lenovo, this model is "wireless upgradeable" meaning that you have to install the card yourself...have you done so?

I have noticed it, but I never had thought that I needed to install the card, since the BIOS was already set as enable, and when I try to install the software (driver) for the second time, first it is deleted, and then it is added, and after deleting, the operating system recognized a new hardware.

Anyway, could you please explain me what would be "install the card yourself"? Do I need to buy a hardware first, and then to install? If so, I thought that this device had already installed the hardware. Is it the same about bluetooth?

I would appreciate your help on this issue.

Well, I don't have long distance x-ray sight to see whether the card is installed, but:

a) Your machine has left the factory without the wireless card.
b) If it hasn't been installed by you or someone else (I don't know whether you bought this one new, used or whatever), it still doesn't have one.
c) On another note, your laptop is not Bluetooth ready, and it will take a lot of finagling and disassembling to get the BT in. You're better off with a PCMCIA card and a dongle.

Where do you go from here?

Back to Lenovo's website, and to the model page for your machine, and download the Hardware Maintainance Manual. Most of the answers for your questions (what card, where is it located etc.) will be awaiting for you right there.

I've never owned a R6x series ThinkPad, but can tell you that on R5x series, the wireless card is located under the palmrest and several parts need to be removed to install it. But, as I've stated, all of that info will be available in the aforementioned manual, along with the pictures.
