The machine (R32) runs very hot (mainly left front palmrest) and after about 2-3 hours shuts down on its own.
I swapped the original 802.11b card for an 802.11b/g and started getting 1802 error so I removed the card and tried a 39T0384.
Now I am getting a yellow ! in my device manager for the "isapnp read data port" and the machine is not recognizing the wifi card I installed. I uninstalled the "isapnp read data port" and rebooted but still had the same error. under the info section it says it is "on Intel 82801DB LPC Interface Controller.
Any idea what this is or how to clear this?
Rich
Also are the R32 and R40 basically the same machine (case, lcd etc)? I was thinking of simply finding a doner R40 and swapping parts to make a good machine. Or are they totally different?

And if the temperature is the problem, open up the laptop and check the cooling assembly, check for things like: Has the thermal paste dried out?Harryc wrote:Ok, lets start with 'shuts down on it's own'. Does it shut down with the card removed? Run Mobmeter and post the CPU temps observed over an hour or 2.
Is the fan running when you are running programs that stress the CPU ?
