Thinkpad R40 - Network icons missing from Network Connection

#1 Post by jn1520 » Wed Mar 05, 2008 9:25 am

I'm having a strange problem, and hope this can be attributed to a known issue with Thinkpads (and not a virus/malware issue - like Apropos.C)

In a nutshell, my Network Connections Folder has no icons. My wireless connection is fine, and I wouldn't have known there was a problem until I tried using the ethernet port. When I went to check the settings the icons were missing. All devices appear to be working normal, and the ethernet driver is current.

Is this possibly an issue with WinXP SP2? Thanks for listening and for any feedback!

Found the following on a google search ...

Click Start, Run and type CMD and press Enter
Run the following commands one-by-one and press Enter after each command:

regsvr32 netshell.dll
regsvr32 netcfgx.dll
regsvr32 netman.dll

If this does not help, try the steps listed in the Microsoft article: Q825826
