R30 sound problem

#1 Post by sentosa » Sat Mar 15, 2008 4:04 am

The other day i was playing a utoob clip of a jet and it was up high on volume on My thinkpad R30. Suddenly the sound froze and whent into some sort of fit. Then i got the blue screen of death. Only way i could get out of it was to press power button and hold it down .
On boot up my sound is now all distorted and crackly.
Reloaded Xp and downloaded drivers but no fixing it.
Luckly my ear phones jack has good sound out of it. So i will use some exsternal speakers. Have i damaged my internal speaker system ???

Welcome to the Forum!!!!

"Sounds" like the jet dropped a bomb on your speakers......I'd say they are shot. Not very large and a jet sound would cause alot of deflection. You can pull the internal plug on them until you can get them replaced.

Speakers

Ya sounds like it. Im not to bothered about it as i like the sound im gettin from my exsternal ones. IBM sounds like they should have put
some safety cut out the the sound system to stop the driver system from over taxing the speaker system. Warning to other R30 people .
Dont play your speakers a full volume.
