Sound drivers cannot be installed for R50

#1 Post by hitamboy » Tue Mar 25, 2008 7:25 am

I needed to reinstall Win XP and after adding SP2, I have a ? in device manager next to multimedia audio controller.I have tried installing the latest driver from Lenovo and also tried Realtek ( AC97 driver). Installation exits part way (always while copying ksproxy.ax and then gives me the following mssg."There was a problem installing this hardware Realtek AC'97 Audio. An error occurred during the installation of the device. The data is invalid"." (When I use the driver from Lenovo, I get the same messg but "Soundmax Audio" instead of Realtek AC'97 Audio in the mssg. Any ideas to resolve this?

Install the Modem drivers from lenovo 1st.

Run ThinkVantage System Update to gather drivers for your thinkpad.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.
