A31 Speakers
A31 Speakers
One of my speakers is starting to "crackel" and Id like to replace them with a little better quality ones hoping for better sound when playing music at higher levels. Are they all interchangable or am I limited to IBM specific speakers? Any one ever replaced their speakers for better sound quality?
Thanks
John
PS: I know alot of it has to do with the sound chip, but since changing that is not an option I thought Id try the speaker route.
Thanks

But this is an interesting idea, the stereo speakers should be at maximum 4 wires, which should be easily reaplaceable if the connector of the better speakers is different, really, isn't there anyone tried this? or anyone know where to get similar shaped but better speakers than the thinkpad have? I'm willing to try this on my R40e, if some can recommend better speakers.

I actually have the external ones, without power source, connect through a headphone jack, even comes with it's own USB soundcard, providing much better performance. But what I prefer is an internal solution, those external ones are just another thing to carry around and needs to be connected and placed before use... So I'm really interested in a laptop size speakers with a good performance.

No, they're not. And your best bet is getting a set for A31 from Harry. Are laptop speakers universal in size and connections?

Honestly, these are as good as it's going to get for that generation of laptops...by no means JBL, EV or KEF...

I listened to an R51's speakers and they sounded annoyingly tinny.
My trusty A31 speakers sound far better.
R51 speakers are practically earbuds stuck in a laptop.
A31s have roughly 1 inch diameter speakers. It makes a lot of difference in sound.
There may be other TP models that sound better but I haven't
listened to them all.
