Seagate 200GB 7200rpm G-force problem?

#1 Post by s_ranzau » Sat Apr 12, 2008 2:23 pm

Just bought the new Seagate 200GB 7200rpm drive with G-force protection and installed it into my Z61m 9450-H9G.

Apparantly the G-force doesn't seem to work.

Tried starting a xvid video and started a full virusscan with Kaspersky at the same time.
Then i shaked my TP and simulated dropping it, but the harddrive didn't stop as with the APS (IBM/Lenovo Active Protection System)... It just kept running... :?

Anyone with any experiences with Seagate drives with G-force protection and how it works???

Regards, a happy TP owner!

The speed of the drive is insane, with an average speed of 55MB/s, compared to the lousy 80GB Fujitsu i replaced it with. So I can definitely recommend it!

Sorry I don't have any experience with that G Force situation.

But perhapos you can answer a question for me. Other than the G Force protection not working, did you experience any issues at all when you installed that large hard drive in the Z61m. I have a Z61m and want to get a larger hard drive to replace my 80GB drive. I called Lenovo Thinkpad tech support and the tech, without a lot of conviction, opined that the largest I could use would be about 100GB.

Thanks.

Other than the G-Force protection, I've experienced no problems at all, and insane HDD speed for a laptop. I can only recommend buying a 200GB Seagate! :D
