I know many (most?) laptops support SPDIF output through the headphone jack using the appropriate adapter (either coax or optical).
My R61 has the Conexant Venice 5045 HD chipset, which as far as I can tell from my reading does support SPDIF.
The problem is, there is no SPDIF option in the Volume control or anywhere in any screen, Advanced or otherwise, anywhere in the Control Panel or elsewhere.
I'm running Windows XP and have the latest Conexant drivers from Lenovo site, and have tried other versions as well. Oddly, I can't seem to find any other people with this problem with a Google search.
